Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 28, 2026 · Last updated: July 28, 2026
GoChinaCare ("GoChinaCare," "we," "us") is a care-coordination and travel-facilitation service operated by Engage Element LLC, a New York limited liability company. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to www.gochinacare.com, our intake forms, patient portal, and our communications with you (including email and messaging apps).
Because our service exists to help you arrange medical care, some of what you share with us is sensitive health information. We treat that as the most protected category of data we handle. Two commitments up front: we never sell your personal information, and we never share it for targeted advertising.
1. What we collect
Information you give us. Contact details (name, email, phone, country); the details you enter in a case review request (age, gender if you choose to share it, preferred city, timeline, and a description of your situation); medical records and imaging you choose to share so that doctors can review your case; travel and identity information needed for visa support and bookings (such as passport details), only when you engage those services; payment information, which is processed by our payment processors — we do not store full card numbers; and the content of your communications with us.
Information collected automatically. Basic technical data (IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed) and aggregate analytics that help us understand how the site is used. Where you opt in via our cookie banner, we use third-party analytics services (Google Analytics and PostHog) to understand aggregate site usage; they load only after your consent. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
2. How we use it
We use your information to prepare and manage your case review; to match you with hospitals and physicians and obtain treatment plans and itemized quotes; to arrange visas, travel, interpreters, and on-ground support when you engage those services; to communicate with you through the channels you choose; to operate, secure, and improve our website and service; and to meet legal obligations. We use health information only to prepare and coordinate your care — never for marketing.
3. How we share it
We share personal information only as needed to deliver the service you request:
With the hospitals, clinics, and physicians being considered for, or providing, your care — so they can review your records, confirm suitability, and prepare treatment plans and quotes. With our China-based care coordination partners, who work under confidentiality and data-protection obligations and access your information on a need-to-know basis to arrange your care on the ground. With visa and travel service providers, limited to what each booking requires. With service providers that support our operations (secure cloud hosting, communications, payments, analytics), bound by contractual confidentiality. And where the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of a patient, our team, or others.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
4. International transfers
We are a U.S.-based service and our systems are hosted in the United States. Arranging treatment in China necessarily means transferring relevant parts of your information to hospitals and care partners in China (and, where your itinerary requires, other countries involved in your care). Data-protection laws in those countries differ from U.S., EU, and UK law. We limit transfers to what your care requires, put confidentiality and data-protection terms in place with our partners, and ask for your explicit consent at intake before your health information is transferred. If you do not consent, we cannot prepare your case — but you can withdraw consent at any time for future processing (see Section 8).
5. How long we keep it
We keep case information for as long as needed to support your care journey, including post-treatment follow-up, and then for the period required by tax, accounting, and legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your information sooner (Section 8); we will honor that request except where the law requires retention.
6. Security
Information you submit is encrypted in transit. Access is restricted to the members of your care team who need it. We use reputable cloud infrastructure with access controls and logging. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but if we learn of a breach affecting your data we will notify you as the law requires.
7. Messaging apps (WhatsApp)
If you contact us on WhatsApp, your messages are also processed by WhatsApp/Meta under their own terms and privacy policy. WhatsApp is convenient for quick questions and logistics; for full medical records, we will direct you to a secure upload channel. Message us there only if you are comfortable with that platform.
8. Your rights and choices
You can ask us to access, correct, download, or delete your personal information, or to withdraw consent to further processing of your health information, by emailing hello@gochinacare.com with the subject "Privacy request." We respond within 30 days and will verify your identity first. We do not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right; note that withdrawing consent to health-data processing means we can no longer coordinate your care.
U.S. state rights. Depending on your state (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas), you may have specific statutory rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of sales, sharing, or targeted advertising. We honor access, correction, and deletion requests from all U.S. residents regardless of state, and we do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising in the first place. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and we will review it.
Consumer health data.Washington, Nevada, and certain other states give additional rights over "consumer health data." Our separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy covers those rights in detail.
EEA/UK visitors. Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are: your explicit consent for health information; performance of a contract for coordinating the services you request; and legitimate interests in operating and securing our service. You additionally have rights to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Transfers outside the EEA/UK are made with your explicit consent and under contractual safeguards as described in Section 4.
9. Children
Our service is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. Where a treatment journey involves a minor accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, the guardian provides and controls the minor's information.
10. Changes
We will post any changes here with a new "Last updated" date, and for material changes affecting health data we will notify active clients directly.
